Hyundai’s N Department has been making impressive cars since its inception. The department, which has produced many successful models such as the i20 N and i30 N, manages to make a name for itself with the new concept cars it has introduced. One of them was the Hyundai N Vision 74 concept.

Past and future together with N Vision 74

To fully understand the N Vision 74, it is first necessary to go back a bit. The Pony, Hyundai’s first production car, was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and unveiled at the 1974 Turin Motor Show. However, there was also a two-door Pony Coupe concept unknown to many.

Unfortunately, Hyundai’s concept model, which was penned by Giugiaro in Turin, could not reach the production line. Pony could have been a very nice sports car with its lines, but for a brand that has just entered the market, this model could be too ambitious. Moreover, Hyundai did not have a suitable engine for this model.

Although it could not go into production, Giugiaro loved the design of the vehicle. The Pony Coupe eventually evolved into the DMC DeLorean. This is the main reason for the similarity between the two models. The N Vision 74 concept is also a modern interpretation of the Pony Coupe.

N Vision 74, whose general silhouette and roofline is almost the same as the Pony Coupe, manages to present retro design and new technologies together. The thin nose structure, the thin front grille and Hyundai’s signature pixel-by-pixel lighting group make the vehicle look very aggressive.

Wide fenders, large air intakes and side skirts reflect the character of the vehicle well. At the rear, the aggressive air continues. The huge diffuser, large rear spoiler and louvers on the rear window also highlight the sporty atmosphere of the vehicle. The N Vision 74 concept looks like it came out of science fiction movies with this state.

The power unit is just as impressive as the design.

We can say that the power unit of the concept model is at least as remarkable as its design. Hyundai states that the N Vision 74 uses the most advanced hydrogen fuel cell powertrain ever. The vehicle, which has a 72.4 kWh battery with a capacity of 800 volts, has an electric motor, both of which are located at the rear. In addition, an 85 kW fuel cell with a 4.2 kg tank capacity is also found in the N Vision 74.

Hyundai states that the vehicle can only be powered electrically or with hydrogen fuel cells. The Korean manufacturer announced that a three-channel cooling system that increases performance and efficiency is also included in the concept model.

The N Vision 74 concept can produce a total of 671 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. The final speed of the vehicle was announced as 250 km / h. It is stated that the refueling of the vehicle takes only 5 minutes, and it has a range of more than 600 km.

Hyundai engineers hardly think to stop here. The Korean manufacturer aims to place a third electric motor on the front axle of the vehicle. The development of the vehicle, which is expected to make its way to the Nürburgring, will continue.

Despite all these impressive features, Hyundai has no plans to produce the N Vision 74 concept. The Hyundai N Vision 74 could have been a very impressive sports car with the infrastructure of the IONIQ 5. So what do you think about the concept of Hyundai N Department?
