Vera Molnár sold her NFT collection “Themes and Variation”, which she created in collaboration with Martin Grasser, for 631 Ethereum at the Dutch auction organized by Sotheby’s. This collection consists of 500 pieces. The collection includes 170 color palettes and a combination of algorithms created from iterative grids.

The collection is characterized as an expansion of Molnár’s 2 percent d’ordre generative protocol that explores the power of the grid and random colors. In this series, Molnár also included the letters N, F and T to refer to the technological tool of NFTs.

Vera Molnár was born in Budapest in 1924 and became one of the pioneers of computer-generated imagery in 1959. She has previously taught at the University of Paris and her work has been exhibited in major European exhibitions she. In 2022, she stepped into the world of NFT and started exhibiting her artworks on digital platforms.

The “Themes and Variation” collection has also received a lot of attention in the secondary markets and has been traded for over 589 Ethereums on platforms such as OpenSea. At the time of publication, the base price of the collection rose by over 100 percent to an average of 1.52 ETH in a short time. Molnár’s work continues to attract great attention as one of the pioneers of the development of computer art and the digital art world.
