Engineered Arts, a technology company based in Cornwall, England, shared a video showing the new capabilities of the humanoid robot Ameca. Described by the company as the “most advanced humanoid” robot in the world, Ameca had attracted a lot of attention with its facial expressions before.
Facial expressions made even better
Equipped with motion sensors, eye cameras and a high-resolution camera mounted on its chest, the Ameca can recognize faces up to about two meters away and predict emotions, age and gender. In the newly shared video, the humanoid robot, which performs these functions, seems to surprisingly recognize itself in front of the mirror with its facial expressions and movements.
Humanoid robot Ameca has learned to protect its personal space
In addition to the shared video, it should be noted that Ameca has the ability to yawn, shrug, point, wave, open its mouth, silence someone or warn the other party with movement and various facial expressions when they cannot hear. The Engineered Arts team plans to further develop the Tritium operating system used by Ameca to continue pushing the boundaries of robot and human interaction.
