Rimac aims to increase its claim with new investments

Rimac Group, in a statement made the other day, stated that it has collected 500 million euros for the development of electric cars and to become a global brand. With the new investments of Porsche, Softbank Vision Fund 2 and Goldman Sachs, the company has gained 2 billion euros in value.

With the new investment, Porsche’s 24 percent share in Rimac will be preserved, while Mate Rimac, the founder and CEO of the brand, will continue to be the largest shareholder. Mate Rimac made the following statements about the new investments:

The CEO said, first and foremost, that the money will help Rimac stay independent from the larger automakers. Mate Rimac says that although it is positive for them to have Porsche and Hyundai as shareholders, they do not want to be completely dependent on these brands.

Rimac merged its hypercar division with French supercar manufacturer Bugatti in November. The new Bugatti Rimac company is developing the 1,914 horsepower Rimac Nevera model, which is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 1.85 seconds. Introduced last year, the electric hypercar is scheduled to hit the road in the summer.
