Continuing its work under the shadow of US sanctions, Huawei recently launched the Mate X5 and Mate 60 series. According to the latest information after the first phones received after the company was blacklisted, the Nova 12 series is expected to be showcased very soon. The processors that will power upcoming phones have also recently been announced.
Huawei Nova 12 series turns to Kirin processor
According to information from sources close to Huawei, the upcoming Huawei Nova 12 series will be powered by the company’s own Kirin 830 processor. In a sense, there will be a return to the past with the new chipset, which is expected to have a performance close to the Kirin 9000s chip that powers flagships such as Mate X5 and Mate 60.
Before being subjected to US sanctions, we were seeing the company’s own Kirin chips in almost all of Huawei’s smartphones. However, with the blacklist decision in 2019, this situation changed and Qualcomm chips that appeal to the middle segment with 4G support began to be used. The Nova series was also directly affected by this process and had to switch to Snapdragon processors.
With the Huawei Nova 12 series, there will be a switch to Kirin processors again after a few years. However, it is not clear yet whether the smartphones will support 5G. More detailed reports on the subject are expected to be released in the future.
