If you long press one of the zoom options in the camera app, you can open the digital zoom tab. Depending on your iPhone model, the zoom amount can be 5x, 10x, 12x or even 15x. While optical zoom is always a better option, digital zoom will also do the trick at this point.
Once you’ve zoomed in enough, tap the Moon to refocus, then drag the yellow focus square down to reduce exposure. If you’re shooting at sunset rather than pitch dark, this setting will be sufficient, but if not, Night mode may be a better option for you.
To do this, you can open the camera menu by tapping the arrow icon at the top. Select the Moon icon in the camera menu and turn this setting to maximum for the greatest impact. Then, hold your phone still and let your camera do its thing.
