How to Set Up Gmail?
There are steps you need to follow to set up mail on your Android device. Before starting the Android mail setup process, you need to update the Gmail application on your device to the latest version. To update the Gmail app to the latest version, you must open the Google Play Store app on your Android device. Then you have to type ”Gmail” in the search bar and select Update. If the Update option is not visible, you can tell that the Gmail app is up to date.
- After confirming that the Gmail application is up-to-date, you should open the Gmail application.
-
Then you have to tap the menu icon in the upper left corner and come to Settings.
-
After going to Settings, you should tap on Add Account and then tap on ”Exchange and Microsoft 365”. At this point, you must enter your e-mail address completely.
-
You should click Next and then enter your password and tap Next.
-
Here, too, there are various steps you need to follow depending on your account type. If you are an Outlook.com user, you do not need to take any action at this step.
-
If you have Exchange and other accounts, you should learn your server settings from your IT administrator or email provider.
-
You may also need to set up your account manually. A redirect request screen may appear for Microsoft 365 and school users. You can tap OK when you see this screen.
-
When you see the incoming server screen settings, you need to change your server to outlook.office365.com. After performing the mentioned operations, you should follow the command prompts such as security or device permissions, sync settings.
If you have a work or Microsoft 365 account, you may see a sign asking you to confirm remote security management. At this point you can tap ‘OK’ or ‘Enable’.
- After performing the operations mentioned, you should go to the new setting just up inbox.
-
If you see “Action Required for Email Sync” in the new setting just up inbox, you should turn it on and tap “Use Another Email Application Instead”.
-
Finally, you should pull down the top of your Android device’s screen. In this way, you will be able to pull down the Android notification bar.
-
After pulling down the Android notification bar, you may see the “Cannot sync calendar and contacts” warning. When you encounter this warning, you should touch the relevant warning and touch the “Allow” option to grant access.
If you perform the aforementioned operations, you can complete the Android mail setup.
Samsung e-mail Application Installation
These processes are valid for the Gmail application. Operations may differ for the Samsung Email app.
- At this point you should open the Samsung Email app and tap ‘Add Account’.
-
If you wish, you can also go to Settings. Then you must enter your e-mail address and password correctly and completely.
-
After entering your e-mail address and password, you should tap “Login”.
-
You may be prompted to select the account type at this point. If you are prompted to select the account type, you must select Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync to synchronize contacts and calendars.
-
Then you must confirm the required settings and permissions by tapping ‘OK’. The settings and permissions you see in this step may vary depending on the type of account you have set up.
-
If you have used two-step verification, you can verify your identity using the method you choose.
-
It may take a few minutes for your email, contacts, calendar and tasks to sync.
-
At this point, you may see a ‘Action Required for Synchronization’ warning. If you encountered this warning, you should open the warning and tap ‘Use Another Mail App Instead’.
Users who do not encounter this warning should simply skip this step. You can perform the Android mail setup process by performing the mentioned steps.
