Among the banking applications in the Android ecosystem, there are applications that have been downloaded more than 1 billion times. But how safe is it to make banking transactions from the phone? Of course, it is important that your phone’s software updates are complete and that the applications you download to your phone belong to reliable sources. But even if all is well, there is still risk.

According to the report published by mobile security platform Zimperium, all banking applications are at risk of trojan horses. The company analyzed more than 600 financial apps and 10 banking trojan platforms targeting banking apps and noted that the most threatened banking app was BBVA Spain, the Spanish app with more than 10 million downloads.

Expanding the scope of the research to the US, the company says that there are 121 finance apps in the United States with more than 280 million downloads, followed by the UK and Italy with 55 and 43 apps. The security company, which says that a trojan named Teapot is the most active malware among 600 applications analyzed, claims that the malware called ExobotCompact.D is still active.

Zimperium Security Research Vice President Nico Chiaraviglio says that people should have a firewall on their mobile devices where they do their banking activities.

We, at CHIP Online, of course, recommend that you use security software on your phone. However, as we said at the beginning, it is especially important that you do not download applications of unknown origin, and that you pay attention to the complete updates of the applications installed on your phone and the operating system. In addition, it is imperative that you keep the passwords you use for banking transactions safe and not share them with others.
