How many Earths fit inside the Sun? Calculated…

Google tells us that number is around 1.3 million, but filling a huge sphere with lots of small spheres is not that simple. Here is the real number...

READING NOW How many Earths fit inside the Sun? Calculated…

The calculation, which says that 1.3 million Earths will fit inside the Sun, comes from dividing the volume of the Sun (1.412 x 1018 km3) by the volume of the Earth (1,083 x 1012 km3). However, for this calculation to be correct, we must first melt our planet into a liquid. Only in this way can this number of Earths “fill” the Sun.

But if we want to copy the Earth without changing its current shape and fill it inside the Sun, shouldn’t we have to do a much more complicated calculation? The answer is yes, and the resulting figure is lower.

Youtuber Nick Lucid explains how he did this mathematical calculation correctly in his video titled “I proved that 1,300,000 Earths can’t fit in the Sun”. Considering the Earth as a solid sphere, Lucid ran several simulations to try to answer this surprisingly complex equation, yielding a much lower number of 1.3 million when the percentage of packing density is taken into account.

As a result of the calculation, which you can watch in the video below, it was determined that the number of Earths that can fit inside the Sun is 932,884…
