The October data of the report named “Digital 2021” reveals that the number of smartphone, internet and social media users worldwide has reached record levels. According to the results of the researches, the number of people who own a smartphone has reached 5.29 billion. In other words, at least 2 out of every 3 people use a smartphone. The number of Internet users reached 4.88 billion. This figure corresponds to 61.8% of the world’s population. On the other hand, the number of people using social media was recorded as 4.55 billion. This means that at least half of the 7.89 billion population uses at least 1 social media platform.

The research reveals very interesting figures in social media as well. In the last year, around 400 million people started using social media. In addition, daily social media usage time has reached remarkable dimensions. So users; They devote 2 hours and 27 minutes of their day to social media. In addition to all these, 1,2 or 3 social media platforms are not enough for users anymore. According to research, users use an average of 6 social media platforms per month.

The report, prepared by We Are Social and Hootsuite, reveals that Facebook is the most popular social media platform in the world. The number of people on this social media platform is 2.895 billion. Facebook is followed by YouTube with 2.291 billion users, WhatsApp with 2 billion users, Instagram with 1.393 billion users, Messenger with 1.3 billion users, WeChat with 1.251 billion users and TikTok with 1 billion users.
