How Are Buildings Not Collapsing While The World Is Spinning Fast?

We have prepared this content to clarify an issue that advocates of the Flat Earth idea have come across recently. In our content, you will learn how large structures survive despite the rotation of the earth.

Flat Earth claims from ancient times to the present are kept alive with different videos or images that are presented as evidence (!) today. Many branches of science, especially astronomy, had proven this idea wrong. We even saw that those who wanted to prove the flat Earth mistakenly proved that the Earth is round.

Another thought of those who support this idea is that the Earth is stationary and other stars revolve around it. For this reason, they argue that if the Earth were to rotate, buildings and living things would not be able to move freely as they do now. Now let’s explain why these thoughts are wrong.

First of all, the Earth does not rotate at a speed of 600 thousand kilometers per hour (the speed of light is approximately 300 thousand kilometers per hour). The equator is the part where the speed of our Earth is fastest as it rotates around itself:

Here, a very high speed of 1670 kilometers per hour is seen. This velocity decreases towards the poles. In other words, while you are reading this article, you are standing on a sphere moving faster than 1000 kilometers per hour. While revolving around the sun, there is a speed of about 107 thousand kilometers per hour. So why don’t we feel this huge speed?

Gravity, gravity, and again gravity…

Everything, including you, your computer, your desk, your home, the buildings around you, and even the weather, is connected to the Earth by gravity. Let’s take an example to understand this better. We see a speed between 35 and 80 kilometers per hour in urban subways. The reason why you are not affected by this speed when you get on these vehicles is that you are moving at that speed at the same time as the vehicle.

When the vehicle first moves, its speed increases, but since your speed is zero, you will experience a small jolt. But as the vehicle accelerates, you reach this speed and you will be more comfortable while you are standing in it. This is the case for the world. Gravity binds the atmosphere and us to the Earth, so we move at the same time as it. Unlike the subway, we do not experience any jolts as the Earth is constantly moving at a constant speed. This is why we land in the same place when we jump.

That’s why we can stand comfortably on buildings. The fact that they are at the same speed as us makes the situation as if we are not moving at all. Just like 2 cars traveling at the same speed on the highway stay in line. But that doesn’t change the fact that they act.

This speed keeps us safe. What if the Earth stopped for just 1 second and then kept spinning?

At this point, we would learn the importance of speed in the worst possible way. Let’s picture this again in our minds rather than explaining it straight. We know that vehicles can speed up to hundreds of kilometers per hour. So what would happen if a vehicle traveling at 250 kilometers per hour suddenly stopped as if stuck where it was?

It would probably not be possible to hear from insiders. From this point of view, it is not difficult to predict what would happen if our Earth, which was moving at a speed of more than 1500 kilometers per hour, would suddenly stop. We would see buildings, people, vehicles flying around, and we would almost experience the doomsday scenario.

So as a result, even if you are on the top of the world’s largest skyscraper, you can stay fixed on it as if it is not moving at all, because that structure moves with you…

However, the wind levels that will vary depending on your location can make this experiment difficult for you.

Finally, let us state that not only the Earth, but also the entire Solar System moves around the galaxy:
