Friend Tech, the new platform that everyone has been talking about recently, leaked the identity information of hundreds of thousands of people to the internet. Ethereum addresses and Twitter names are among other disclosed information.

101,000 Friend Tech users’ information leaked online

Banteg, one of the developers of Yearn Finance, has shared on GitHub a “leaked” repository containing sensitive information of users on the Friend Tech platform. This repository contains the basic addresses and corresponding Twitter usernames of over 101,000 users.

Banteg was not limited to just publishing user information. He also pointed out that there are serious problems with friend.tech’s regulations. Users claimed that Friend Tech was given the ability to post on their behalf, possibly without full understanding or permission.

“The leaked database shows that 101,183 people have access to post to Friend.tech as they do,” the developer said. This statement came after publishing a CSV file containing detailed user data. This file contained financial resources and usernames.

The information surfaced after Spot On Chain analysts encountered a data leak issue with Friend.tech’s API. This made user-generated wallet information accessible via the API.

Base continues to be at the center of scandals

Operating on Coinbase-supported Base, Friend.tech is a Web3 social application powered by Coinbase. He’s been at the center of multiple hacking and rug pull incidents lately. This platform allows trading of “shares” via Twitter accounts. This feature offers access to private chat rooms with unique access for shareholders.

This platform, which has recently attracted attention for its high-profile registrations, has been among the top three crypto projects in terms of fees paid by users, generating over $1.42 million in protocol fees in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Friend.tech’s invite-only beta launched on August 10. It achieved a trading volume of around 4,400 ETH (approximately $8.1 million) on the first day. Shares of some crypto influencers like Cobie and Hsaka jumped to three ETH in a matter of days. This means $5,000 in fiat terms.
