Honor V Purse: Foldable phone concept carried as a bag

While the number of foldable smartphones is increasing, we see that companies sometimes take different approaches. Within the scope of IFA 2023, it has seen the most “extraordinary” foldable smartphone design designed to be carried as a bag. The Honor V Purse, exhibited by Honor, is only a concept device for now, but it also includes real elements.

Don’t let the Honor V Purse concept, which comes with fashionable, replaceable straps and chains, mislead you with its point of view. In fact, this device is quite advanced. The device, which folds outwards and is only 9mm thick when closed, is thinner than the firm’s Magic V2. On the other hand, the company calls the Honor V Purse concept a “physical digital fashion statement”. It combines physical designs (straps) with vibrant and interactive Always On Display styles. For these styles, collaborations were made with important names in the design industry.

The point here is that with interchangeable straps and various AOD designs (it’s a fold out so it can be seen on both sides), you can pair the Honor V Purse with any outfit you wear so you can quickly keep up with the trend. As we said, the device manufactured with sustainable materials is unfortunately just a concept. However, Honor plans to open a platform for AOD designs that will allow developers and designers around the world to create custom skins. The platform allows the AOD to react to the user and the environment as it tracks touches and has access to the ambient light sensor and accelerometer.

Honor didn’t give much details about the hardware as it wasn’t designed for mass production. But he said he has developed a hinge that can withstand 400,000 folding cycles. This is an interesting case, as most developments with foldable hinges have focused on the fold-in style. On the other hand, although the foldable phone in the form of a bag may seem strange at first glance, it is actually not so. Modern smartphones already act as wallets, can be used as house and car keys or even securely store your documents.
