As we shared with you, Japan-based Sony, which continues its moves on electric vehicles, decided to establish a partnership with the automobile giant Honda. Within the scope of this partnership, it was stated that the two companies would produce electric cars together. Now, there have been new developments in this regard.
74 million dollars will be invested for the partnership
Sony and Honda announced that they will invest 10 billion yen (74 million 83 thousand 950 dollars) for the electric vehicle company called Sony Honda Mobility Inc. It was stated that Tokyo-based Honda will benefit from Sony’s experience in technologies such as imaging, telecommunications, networking and entertainment.
It was also stated that the company’s board of directors has already been formed and its CEO will be Yasuhide Mizuno . Senior executives of both companies expressed their excitement about the partnership in their statements.
Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida stated that the new brand will focus on safety, entertainment and adaptability, while Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe stated that he has similar thoughts, that the two brands will complement each other and bring innovations to the industry. Mibe also pointed out that Honda will continue to produce its own vehicles separately.
There are not many details yet about the vehicles that will be developed in partnership with Honda and Sony. However, the news shows that there is a possibility that the first electric car will arrive in 2025 as part of the cooperation.
