Finland-based HMD Global has been producing mobile devices under the Nokia brand since 2016. The company’s portfolio includes products such as smartphones, push-button phones, tablets and peripherals. The brand’s economical and push-button phones are especially popular.
HMD Global CEO Jean-Francois Baril said on his LinkedIn page that the company plans to expand its product range by launching its own mobile phone brand. The new models will be offered under the HMD brand. However, we should point out that there are not many details about this yet.
Nokia production will continue
The experienced manager said, “We will produce technologies that care about user experience and anticipate people’s needs.” Baril also stated that they will not stop Nokia smartphone production for now. He emphasized that HMD Global is the fastest growing manufacturer of 5G supported smartphones.
Although many of Nokia’s devices are produced in China, the company positions itself as Europe’s largest smartphone manufacturer. In his statement, Jean-Francois Baril did not provide information about the launch dates of the new products or other details.
