Mercedes introduced new electric truck models at the IAA Transportation Fair held in Hannover, Germany. Although we have been waiting for Tesla to launch Semi models for a few years, its rivals have started to lead the industry by acting faster than Musk. Here are the Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul features…

Mercedes leads the electric truck market!

Tesla, which has been leading the electric car market for a long time, is now aware of the existence of its competitors. So much so that even the Ford F-150 and Mustang, two legendary models of internal combustion engines, appeared as electric this year.

Tesla, on the other hand, had 2 commercial models that shook the whole world at the event it held in the past years. These were Semi vehicles in truck and lorry format. In fact, if we include the Cybertruck, which is shown as the F-150 rival, we can say that there are 3 models.

But these 3 vehicles were not released to the market. The release date is constantly being delayed. Of course, Musk says that Cybertruck models will meet their owners soon. However, the trucks are still missing. On the other hand, its rivals turned this gap of Tesla into an opportunity and started to promote their own vehicles and even become the pioneer of the sector.

Finally, Mercedes introduced the eActros LongHaul electric truck model at the IAA Transportation Fair. These vehicles, which use LFP battery cells and have a total battery of 600 kWh, can reach a range of 310 miles-500 km on a single charge.

Of course, although this vehicle is below Tesla’s Semi models with a range of 500 miles – 800 km, Mercedes says that the batteries have a very long life. It even gives an active life of 10 years and 1.2 million km. Moreover, although the battery size is 8-10 times that of standard cars, it can charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.

Serial production for the Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul is scheduled to start in 2024. However, the production of the eActros 300, a slightly smaller version of this vehicle with a range of 220 km, will begin next year. Its arrival in our country remains uncertain.
