McCarthy used two 12 -inch telescope, strategically placed in different positions to maximize clarity and detail.

15 Combined Photos

McCarthy says he has taken hundreds of long exposure photos with telescopes to get this photo. Thus, he managed to achieve more details than expected in Andromeda’s photo taken with a ground -based telescope. For full photograph, he brought 15 different views together. For each of these 15 photographs, the exposure of the cameras for 12 hours is another detail that describes the difficulty.
