SpaceX successfully landed the Falcon 9 rocket once again, after bringing 72 satellites into orbit as part of the Transporter-8 mission a while ago. Although dozens of satellites have been moved into orbit within the scope of the mission, these satellites are not the most important detail; Because the first stage of Falcon 9 has returned to Earth for the 200th landing in SpaceX’s history.

200 successful landings

This was the ninth launch and landing for the booster and SpaceX’s 200th, according to the mission statement on the company’s website. SpaceX has made a total of 239 launches to date. The rockets were used again 173 times.

SpaceX’s first Falcon 9 booster landing took place in December 2015, and the company has since repeatedly lowered the rocket back to earth for reuse after missions that sent astronauts into orbit. According to SpaceX, the Transporter-8 mission brought 72 payloads into orbit, including CubeSats, microsatellites, reentry capsule and orbital transfer vehicles carrying spacecraft to be deployed later. All of the payloads were successfully placed into orbit about an hour after takeoff.

After carrying the rocket loads into orbit, it started the second part of its journey, back to Earth. You can watch the landing footage at the embedded Twitter link above. SpaceX is also developing the massive Starship rocket, which first took to the skies in April. Although the first test flight resulted in an explosion, another test will be carried out in the coming months.

SpaceX, on the other hand, has an impressive launch speed. While the company constantly carries satellites, vehicles or astronauts from other countries into orbit with its rockets, it also periodically puts Starlink satellites into orbit with its own rockets. With each launch, Falcon 9s carries 52 Starlink satellites. There are currently more than 4,400 Starlink satellites in orbit.
