We mentioned that during the excavations in Haydarpaşa, a tomb and casting workshop belonging to the Hellenistic period were discovered. Tile tombs, which also belong to the Hellenistic period, were discovered outside the region where they were found, and for this reason, they are of great importance.

Director of Istanbul Archeology Museums, Rahmi Asal, told reporters that the tops of the tombs were covered and the interesting thing was that they were cremated (cremation) tombs. Rahmi Asal’s explanations are as follows:

“We understand that the skeleton did not burn due to a fire that occurred in the layer, since there are no other burn marks around it. It was cremated and buried in this tomb. It has just been opened, the skeleton and remains are just being unearthed. “It’s very important. The only Hellenistic find found outside of the Hellenistic platform in this area. It is very precious to him. It is one of the earliest finds in this area. We found two burial gifts inside the tomb. They were unfortunately destroyed by fire. A terracotta A chalice and a perfume bottle were found. Archaeologists continue their studies. The discovery of a Hellenistic tomb here is very important in terms of its chronology, the second is cremation. I have never seen this type of cremation tomb from the Hellenistic period. This is a good example. Perhaps we will see much more in the future. will yield valuable findings.”
