Sony’s new generation console, PS5 Pro, had its disc drive sold separately, which drew reaction from gamers. However, the lack of availability of the accessory in the market makes the situation even more difficult for gamers who love physical media. When players have to buy a disc drive for the PS5 Pro, which is already sold at high prices, they encounter stock shortages and high prices.
Financially, things are going well on the PS5 front
With only a few days left until the launch of PlayStation 5 Pro, the PS5 disc drive is sold out almost everywhere. Nearly all major retailers in the US and Europe are out of stock of Sony’s external disk drive. This leads players to opportunists who sell this device at exorbitant prices.
This accessory, which should normally be sold with a price tag of £ 99.99, started to be sold for twice as much on the black market. While some sellers offer the disk drive for prices such as £ 199.99, some have increased this figure to over £ 300. After similar price increases in the 30th anniversary special package of PS5 Pro, opportunists continue to sell products in the gaming industry at high prices.
In the UK, even second-hand disk drives cannot be found. CeX (Computer Exchange), one of the country’s famous second-hand stores, stated that the stocks of this PS5 add-on are completely out of stock.
There is no information about when this accessory from Sony will be back in stock. Therefore, PS5 Pro owners may be deprived of disc support for their new consoles for a while longer. When new stocks come to market, they are again expected to be the target of opportunists. For this reason, players are recommended to keep track of the stock of the disk drive and turn on notifications.
