SSD technology continues to evolve. SSDs, whose capacities have increased since the first day of their release, have now started to reach a different size. While various brands produce SSDs with different capacities, some companies are now pushing the limits.

The new Solid State Drive (SSD) produced by Nimbus Data is getting ready to break records with its capacity. The new driver is expected to be introduced before the end of 2022.

Nimbus will introduce its 200 TB SSD before the end of 2022

Nimbus Data plans to introduce its new SSD model, which will break records with its capacity, before the end of 2022. Company CEO Thomas Isakovich made the following statements in his statement on the subject:

“100 TB SSDs that will deliver more than 100 TB of groundbreaking capacity, performance and energy efficiency. We are working on the successor. We hope to introduce this next generation SSD in 2022”

Isakovich declined to give details about the new drive. We do not yet know whether the new drive will be a 3.5-inch model like the 100 TB ExaDrive DC, offered with a SATA or SAS interface. No explanation has yet been made about the price tag of the new SSD.

In an interview he gave in 2020, Isakovich pointed to 200 TB. The 200 TB SSD, which is expected to arrive in 2021, has been delayed until this year due to the pandemic. These days when life is starting to return to normal again, it seems like the company has put its plans back into operation.

Less power, more capacity

200TB SSD can replace entire 3.5-inch hard disk drives, consuming much less power, requiring less cooling and consuming less energy. The biggest limiter in this regard will be the price tag. Considering that the price of the company’s 100 TB SSD is about $ 40,000 in the US, the price of the new SSD can reach much higher figures.
