During Comic-Con last week in San Diego, Player First Games announced that Rick and Morty’s character Rick will be added to the first season of MultiVersus as a playable character on August 9th. However, with a recent incident, it was learned that the players were able to access Rick by hacking the game.
Following the release of the game’s open beta, Twitch streamer ConnorEatsPants stumbled upon this event during the MultiVersus broadcast. While the publisher was changing the game settings, the other player in their lobby showed the character of Rick Sanchez from the TV series ‘Rick and Morty’ alongside Connor’s character.
The character Rick wouldn’t normally unlock until August 9th.
ConnorEatsPants isn’t the only publisher to come across this event, as many other publishers have encountered other players accessing the character Rick in their lobbies while broadcasting the game. You can see the moments of the event in the videos above. The character would not normally be available until August 9th. However, it seems that the files of the character have already been added to the game.
It’s unclear at this time whether the character Rick revealing so sooner than expected is a mistake made by the developers. However, since MultiVersus is still in early access, it is possible that hackers managed to add this character to their games.
