Rockstar Games has finally announced the release date of Grand Theft Auto 5 for PS5 and Xbox Series X. An upgraded version of the game was announced in 2020, but until now, the developer has remained silent about when players can play GTA 5 on next-gen consoles.
Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S introduce new graphics modes with up to 60 frames per second in 4K resolution, texture and draw distance upgrades, HDR options and ray-tracing. The game also features the technical advancements of the latest console generation, with platform-specific innovations such as faster load times, immersive 3D audio, enhanced haptic feedback, and much more.
When is GTA 5 coming for PS5 and Xbox Series X?
Another welcome feature for next-gen consoles will be the ability for players to transfer their saved data from PS4 and Xbox One to their modern consoles, including GTA Online characters. There is also a standalone version of the game for those who haven’t played GTA 5 yet. This standalone edition will be available to PlayStation 5 players for free for the first three months.
Most importantly, Rockstar has confirmed that the release date of Grand Theft Auto 5 for PS5 and Xbox Series X will be March 15, 2022. So players have to wait more than two months to tour Los Santos in 4K resolution at 60fps.
In the same blog post, Rockstar also officially announced that the work for GTA 6 continues “without problems”. Gamers have been eagerly awaiting news about the generational update for GTA 5 and GTA Online. While Rockstar announced that the new version of the open world game is under development, they kept details such as the release date silent.
