READING NOW Greece has reached 100 percent renewable energy level!

Energy production is one of the most important issues in the world. Human beings, who used fossil fuels to produce energy in the early periods, are switching to renewable energy methods with the increase in environmental pollution. Solar energy is at the forefront of renewable energy.

Greece takes important steps in solar energy

Many countries have significantly increased the number of solar farms with the aim of producing renewable energy. Our neighbor Greece has also taken very important steps in the field of solar energy recently. The country has started to reap the rewards of these investments.

Greece received power from entirely renewable sources for the first time last week, according to the Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO). According to the IPTO statement, renewable energy sources accounted for 100 percent of electricity production in Greece for at least five hours. It was announced that the electricity produced from solar energy reached a record level with 3,106 megawatt hours.

Greece plans to invest around 30 billion euros in European funds and private investments to develop its electricity system. The country aims to double its green energy capacity by 2030, increasing its renewable energy rate to 70 percent.

Currently, renewable energy production in Greece is at the level of 10 gigawatts. The neighboring country wants to increase this capacity to 25 gigawatts by 2039. It seems likely that this target will be achieved sooner than expected as the work accelerates.

Greece inaugurated a 204 megawatt (MW) solar farm in Kozani, in the country’s West Macedonia region, last April. The installed system is the largest solar field with double-surface panels. It was announced that the installation cost of the solar field was 130 million euros.

It seems that the importance of solar energy will increase in the coming period. So what do you think about solar and wind energy? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
