Mercedes-Benz is among the largest automobile companies in the world. The company has many models on sale worldwide. In this way, the company can appeal to many car lovers and achieve good sales figures.

Although Mercedes-Benz gives importance to electric passenger cars, it also attaches importance to electrification of light commercial vehicles. In this way, many light commercial vehicles are getting electric versions. Good news came from the company’s popular model Vito. The company celebrates the 25 thousandth of the electric version of the vehicle.

Mercedes-Benz has produced 25,000 Vito E-Cells since 2010!

Mercedes-Benz has been producing the electric version of the popular Vito model since 2010. Although the production of the vehicle is not continuous, it has been produced occasionally until today and has reached 25,000 units today. This shows us that light commercial vehicles will now start to take up a large place in the electric car sector.

The company is currently working on three electric light commercial vehicles. Mercedes Benz eVito, eSprinter and EQV productions are currently underway and three models are achieving good sales success in their respective fields. The first electric model began to be produced in 2017. In 2019, the eSprinter was included in the series and finally EQV production started in 2020.

After that, the company is considering launching the Mercedes-Benz eCitan and Mercedes-Benz EQT in 2022. Both vehicles will be built on the same architecture as the new Renault Kangoo Van E-TECH Electric and Nissan Townstar, and will offer users the Mercedes experience in light commercial vehicles.

The new generation Mercedes-Benz EQT will initially be launched as a 5-seater. In 2023, a 7-seat option will be added to the vehicle. Mathias Geisen, President of Mercedes-Benz Vans, said in his statement:

“We have a clear goal, we want to be the leading manufacturer in the field of electric vans in the long term! And we have an excellent starting point for that: by the end of 2021 we were once again the market leader in both. We have clearly aligned our strategy to further expand this position. With the eCitan and future EQT, we are completing our product range this year by offering eVans in all segments.”

So, what are your thoughts? Do you think the number of electric light commercial vehicles will increase gradually? Do not forget to share your views with us in the comments section or on the SDN Forum.
