Nanjing, the capital of eastern China’s Jiangsu province, inaugurated the Metaverse Technology and App Innovation Platform.
Nanjing inaugurated the China Metaverse Technology and Application Innovation Platform to promote nationwide research and development of metaverse technology. The nascent state-sponsored organization is led by the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST). According to an announcement shared on NUIST’s social media account, the platform consists of founding members representing various academic institutions and metaverse-related companies in China.
China Increases Its Tendency To Metaverse Technology
The platform aims to bring together academic institutions and businesses in China by tightening research activities in metaverse-related fields. Nanjing and other Chinese cities competed to play an important role in the country’s metaverse development. Cities, which are planning an industry with an annual revenue of 135 billion yuan ($ 19.13 billion) from February 2023 to the end of 2025, sat on the metaverse agenda.
In particular, stepping into a government-backed metaverse project may attract the attention of other countries. The metaverse sector, which completely encompassed a period, came into question again after the latest developments.
