In 2019, Google broke the record by calculating 31.4 trillion digits of Pi using cloud systems and SSD storages. But last year, the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons managed to beat the record by calculating 62.8 trillion digits. Missing the record for a while, Google captured the record again with its calculation of 100 trillion digits. Googlr thus showed how powerful the Cloud system can be.

Cloud computing; It had 128 virtual cores, 864GB of RAM and 100Gbps connectivity. Google ran the calculation program on this system for exactly 157 days, 23 hours, 31 minutes and 7.6 seconds. The program, which read a total of 43.5 PB of data and wrote 38.5 PB of data, calculated the Pi number to 100 trillion digits. Emma Haruko Iwao, one of the developers on the project, stated that they used the Terraform platform to set up and manage the cluster. In addition, stating that they have automated many processes, the developer stated that they have made the program twice as fast. For those who want to examine the project in more detail, Google has published some of the scripts they used in the calculation process on GitHub.
