Google has started to roll out a feature that can make user reviews in the Play Store much more useful. Reported via Android Police, the new feature allows reviews to be displayed based on the type of device you’re using, be it phone, tablet/foldable, Chromebook, Android Auto or wearable. This feature was announced in August 2021, saying “it will arrive in early 2022”.

This feature is becoming more and more important as Android apps spread to more and more device types. Someone using Google’s upcoming Pixel Tablet will experience an app very differently than someone running it on a Chromebook, and people with folding phones will likely be interested in how an app works on the big screen. If you are trying to install an application on your WearOS smartwatch, we can say that the reviews about the phone version of the application will not be very useful for you.

There are several important details in the system. As Google reported in its original blog post, tablets and foldables fall into the same category. While this mostly makes sense for devices like the Galaxy Z Fold or Surface Duo with their 7.6- and 8.3-inch screens, it might not make much sense for the 6.7-inch Galaxy Z Flip to be in the same category as the 14.6-inch Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. While this probably won’t be an issue for most people, the system can make things a little awkward in extreme situations.
