Seeing the success of ChatGPT in the artificial intelligence industry, which is developing day by day, Google launched its rival chatbot on March 21. The chat bot, which is available under the name “Bard”, can be used in more than 180 countries.

But Bard continues to face great walls in the European Union since its release. Moreover, the Irish Data Protection Commission has signed a new decision that makes the situation even more worrying.

The release of Bard in the European Union has been delayed for a while!

Google has delayed the European Union debut of its artificial intelligence chatbot Bard to comply with new regulations in effect in the Union. Behind this delay lay the latest decision of the Irish Data Protection Commission.

The Commission recently stated that it had not received sufficient information from Google on how Bard would protect users’ privacy. He emphasized how to collect and use usernames, email addresses, and IP addresses.

It also opened a separate thread about how Bard could prevent the collected data from serving purposes such as targeted advertising. A possible date for Bard’s publication in the EU has also not yet been determined.

When we ask Bard about this, he suggests “use a VPN”:

“(…) If you are in the European Union by then and want to use Bard, you can use a VPN to connect to the servers of a country where Bard is available.”
