Google continues to make changes to the Google Mobile Services ecosystem. Much of the ecosystem comes from the Play Store, and the company announced a few months ago that it would be removing the Movies & TV section from the app as part of its restructuring.
This announcement is now starting to come true. Some users started reporting that the corresponding tab is no longer available in the Play Store.
This doesn’t mean that Google has stopped buying TV shows or movies using its ecosystem. This section will be integrated into the Google TV application. Those who buy video content from the Play Store will be able to access this content from the Google TV app. Moreover, it is possible to access the content of services such as Disney+ and Prime Video here, and the content can be watched from within the application.
The Google TV app also features a remote control for all Android TV and Google TV devices. Removing the Movies & TV section will make the Play Store look simpler.
