Google wants to measure the distance between devices
The Android Open Source Project codes discovered by Mishaal Rahman show Google’s interesting Bluetooth project. It looks like Google is working on the Bluetooth Distance Measurement API. The technology in question will probably not find very real results, but it can offer reasonable uses with an approximate value. It is stated that the mentioned API will use Bluetooth RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) technology.
This feature, which will probably enter our lives with Android 14, can also power the company’s new device discovery service. Let’s see if Bluetooth technology will be successful in measuring distance.
