Google Tensor G5 fell below expectations in Geekbench tests
In Geekbench tests, Tensor G5 attracted attention with a score of 1323 points in the single-core performance and 4004 points in the multi-core test. These results surprisingly lag behind even the previous generation Tensor G4, questioning its competitive potential with rival flagship processors such as Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite and MediaTek Dimensity 9400.
Making a significant change in the production process, Google chose to use TSMC’s 3nm N3E production technology instead of Samsung for the Tensor G5. The processor, which is expected to have a chip size of approximately 121 mm², is expected to improve itself in performance and energy efficiency with these changes.
Judging from the statements made by Google for Tensor G4 in the past, it seems that the company’s priority is not a record-breaking performance, but improving the user experience. However, the fact that Tensor G5, which will be used in flagship phones with a price tag of over 1000 dollars, continues this approach raises questions in minds.
