Technology giant Google wants to be the most important name in the smartphone world. In this context, the company, which recently introduced the Pixel 7 series, included its own Tensor G2 on the processor seat. Detailed information about the processor continues to come to light.

Google Tensor G2 confirmed as 5nm processor

The Tensor G2 processor has been the scene of many leaks before. So much so that the processor was known to go through the 4nm production process even in Pixel 7 introductions and with 8 cores in the form of 2x 2.85 GHz ARM Cortex-X1, 2x 2.35 GHz ARM Cortex-A76 and 4x 1.8 GHz ARM Cortex-A55. On the GPU side, the processor with Mali-G710 was claimed to be produced as 5nm.

During the keynote speech of the Pixel 7 series, it was said that the processor had a 60 percent speed and 20 percent efficiency increase compared to its predecessor. It was claimed that the processor showed 4nm performance in the promotion, which did not include a statement about the production process. However, a Google spokesperson confirmed to Android Authority that the Tensor G2 was actually created using a 5nm process. The company spokesperson made the following statements in his speech;

We built the Google Tensor G2 specifically for real-world use cases. Our latest architecture, which includes 5nm, has helped us achieve this goal while improving both performance and power efficiency. This approach has allowed us to add new capabilities while taking a step forward in machine learning with our next-generation TPU, the G2.

Another important name in the processor world, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and Samsung’s Exynos 2200 passed 4nm production. Although the fact that the Google Tensor G2 processor, which is seen as a competitor to these processors, has 5nm production creates question marks, the processor offers a performance increase compared to its predecessor. The performance of Pixel 7 is a matter of curiosity after the latest claims.
