Google, one of the largest technology companies in the world, announced that it has made some tools available since last year in the Google Workspace service, which offers professional tools for businesses, to all Gmail users, both paid and free.
The main purpose of Google’s move is to take Gmail beyond a standard email service and turn it into a productivity hub. Because the update significantly improves the use of Google services such as Docs and Spreadsheets in Gmail; makes it possible for users to work together and collaborate.
When it comes to ‘business’, the most popular services stand out as Slack and Microsoft Teams. Google is making its email service more compatible with its competitors with Gmail’s new design improvement. The technology giant, which combines all productivity applications in a single point, enables Gmail users to work through channels similar to Slack, with the feature called Spaces, so that they can chat, share files and edit content from Google Docs without switching tabs.
As you know, the COVID-19 pandemic has made the practice of working from home our new normal. During this time, Google had already provided the necessary services to its paid users working from home by offering relevant tools to Workspace users. By offering the tools to free users this time, the company combines the standard users with the business user base. Thus, people who will continue to work from home even if normalization steps have been taken, will be able to benefit from Google’s productivity tools without paying for Workspace.
