After Huawei, Samsung and Apple, Google joined the companies producing its own processor. According to leaked information, Samsung is starting production for the second-generation Google Tensor processor this month.

First information came from the second generation Google Tensor processor

According to the report published by the Korean internet portal Naver, work will begin for the second generation Google Tensor processor at Samsung Electronics production facilities. The processor, which is stated to be produced with a 4nm process, will be used in the Pixel 7 family, which will be introduced in the second half of 2022.

It is among the leaked information that the new generation Tensor processor will be produced with PLP technology. The technology, which offers the possibility of production by placing the chips cut from the mold on a rectangular panel, prevents the waste of raw materials. Companies can reduce their production costs thanks to PLP technology.

Google continues to work on its own server and autonomous vehicle processors. Allegedly, Samsung is trying to reach an agreement on processor production for the server and Google’s autonomous vehicle company Waymo. It is worth reminding that Samsung already produces DRAM and NAND memory for Google.

First generation Google Tensor processor manufactured by Samsung. Analysts had reported that the first-generation Tensor processor had battery time and heat instability problems. It is estimated that Samsung will compensate for these errors in the second generation Tensor processor.
