Alternative payment method testing, which started in Europe, India, Indonesia and Japan in March, has now arrived in the US, Brazil and South Africa. Spotify is currently a test app and the Bumble dating app will be added to it.
Although Google allows its alternative methods, it does not back down on the interruption side. Third-party payment methods have to give between 11-26% of their income to Google, depending on the circumstances. So in any case, money will go into Google’s pocket. Spotify states that it is satisfied with the terms offered. Google is also hopeful of the feedback received. More countries and applications are expected to be included in the system in the near future.
