Google introduced the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, powered by the Tensor G2 chip, with an improved camera and three color options. The Pixel 7 series is pretty similar to its predecessor, the Pixel 6, which was Google’s first phone to use the Tensor chip.
The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro come with 6.3-inch and 6.7-inch FHD displays, respectively, and a maximum brightness of 1,400 nits. Pixel 7 Pro also has a 10-120 Hz variable refresh rate. The phones are made of aluminum and recycled material. The Pixel 7 comes in three colors, Snow, Obsidian, and Lemongrass, similar to the Pixel 7 Pro. But the Pro model replaces Lemongrass with Hazel.
The Pixel 7 series comes with Android 13, which increases the customization of apps, icons and wallpapers. The phones also have a battery that is claimed to last up to 72 hours. Additionally, the Pixel 7 offers 8X zoom, while the Pixel 7 Pro can magnify up to 30x. “We’ve achieved optical quality similar to the dedicated 2x telephoto lens for the Pixel 7 and the 10x telephoto lens for the Pixel 7 Pro. This gives you the flexibility to creatively frame your shot at multiple magnifications while maintaining high quality,” Google said at the launch.
Google is introducing a special Photo Unblur feature for the new Google Pixel phones that can edit blurry pictures. Users can also edit distractions in their photos with the Magic Eraser tool. Users also feature Cinematic Blur and can save videos in 10-bit HDR.
The new Pixel 7s come with an enhanced version of the Direct My Call feature announced last year; here, users can now see a pre-made list of menu options for their frequently searched businesses. Previously, the Direct My Call feature transcribes different extensions and automated messages in real time to enable users to take action without remembering the content.
The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have a starting price of $599 and $899 respectively. Pre-orders, which started yesterday, will arrive on October 13, 2022 via leading US carriers. Countries like Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden will also have access to Pixel phones for the first time.
