According to the news in The New York Times, Google has decided to shift the production of Pixel smartphones from China to Vietnam. Sources close to the company say that the Pixel 7 series will be produced in Vietnam.
Nokia unveils new devices
Google hopes to produce half of all the high-end Pixel models it will sell in 2023 in Vietnam. The search giant has already agreed with manufacturing partner Foxconn to move Pixel 7 assembly from its Chinese factories to Vietnam.
The foldable Pixel will be produced in China
The company is expected to launch its first foldable phone next year. The device, which is said to be offered under the name Pixel Notepad or Pixel Fold, will be produced in China. Because of the foldable screen and hinge, the production of such devices needs to be close to key suppliers.
Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones will be launched in October. Pre-orders for the series will open on October 6. Google shared the first details about the Pixel 7 series, which will be powered by the second-generation Tensor chipset, last May.
