Google Maps will no longer show gas stations in the category of attractions for EV owners using Android Auto
Google Maps has removed gas stations from its list of places of interest for owners of electric vehicles using Android Auto. Google has confirmed the changes it says are available for EV drives since 2022.
Here are all the EV-centric capabilities of Google Maps:
Real-time charging port availability: By searching for EV charging stations on Google Maps, you can see real-time availability of charging ports at nearby stations, so you can get your stuff done without having to wait in line.
Charge speed filters: The ultra-fast charge filter will help you easily find stations with 150 kilowatts or higher chargers.
Plug-type filters: You can also filter out stations that offer the plug-in type of your EV. So you can only view stations with plugs compatible with your vehicle.
Add charging stops to journeys: For all journeys that require charging to be stopped, the map suggests the best stop based on factors such as current traffic, your charge level, and expected energy consumption.
Charging stations in search results: You will also be shown in search results when places like supermarkets have charging stations on site. Therefore, if you are going to buy groceries, you may find it easier to choose a store that allows you to charge your car there.
