Google Maps was recently updated with the new color palette. The new look was not liked by the former Google employee, who played an important role in the design of Google Maps, due to the use of colder and unrealistic colors. In fact, there has been criticism that it may be a product of artificial intelligence. Google started to offer the criticized design for Android Auto as well.
Cooler colors, AI support
The updated look of Google Maps comes with a new, cooler color palette, replacing the usual warm colors. The greens that used to represent parks and forests have now turned mint, while the roads have turned grey. It seems that we will get used to this design change to improve usability, because the same design came to cars after phones. The new design for Android and iOS devices is now available for Android Auto. Here is the old and new design:

In line with the changes to the Android app, the app now displays a cooler color palette across the entire map and most of the UI. As seen below, the colors of all text, the blue navigation line, and the direction card at the top of the user interface have changed.
