Google has expanded the Pixel Watch’s list of useful features. The search giant has added a “fall detection” feature to the smartwatch, as we’ve seen with the Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch. The company had promised to make this functionality available at the launch of the device, and it has finally started rolling out the update.

The fall detection feature will be able to detect the fall of the smartwatch owner using the built-in motion sensors and machine learning on the device. If the person is inactive for 30 seconds, the Pixel Watch will vibrate, sound an alarm and display a notification on the screen to understand the person’s status.

Passed extensive testing

If there is no significant problem as a result of the fall, the user will be able to cancel the call by pressing the “I’m OK” option on the screen of the device. However, if there is an important situation, he will be able to tap “I fell & need help”. If the user does not respond for one minute, the device will automatically call the emergency services and provide the victim’s location information.

Google said it is testing the feature extensively to reduce the risk of “false positives” in fall detection. As you know, some sports activities can be compared to an emergency. For this reason, devices of other brands occupied the emergency services in vain many times.
