Google Chrome is working on the ability to translate selected text. According to the feature spotted by Leopeva64 on Reddit, the tech giant is now testing a new ability for users to translate selected text in the browser instead of an entire web page.
Custom translation to selected text
Chrome has translation built in, but it translates the entire page instead of a specific section. While the feature works well when translating one language, it’s not ideal if the page has sections in other languages.
Google will now allow to translate sections of a page in different languages in the Chrome browser. Users will be able to access specific translation options for the selected text when they select a specific section on the page and right-click.
The feature appears to be live in the latest Chrome Canary update, but it’s unknown when Google will roll out the feature to all users in a stable build and wide use.
