Apple will introduce the iPhone 14 series with its new member at the event it will organize next week. Of course, the iOS version that these devices will use appeared last March. But the company has not forgotten about the old models. Because as of today, Apple has shared an iOS update for some iPhone, iPad and iPod models.

Apple gave iOS update to old devices!

After the event on September 7, Apple will share the iOS 16 update for all devices that support it. But as of today, iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPod touch 6th generation, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models shared the iOS 12.5.6 update.

We haven’t seen a new version of iOS 12 since September of last year. None of the devices mentioned already support iOS 13 and above. But today, Apple surprised the entire technology industry by saying that it still keeps this software up-to-date.

Of course, iOS 12.5.6 does not actually promise a new feature to users. Similarly, there is no change in the acceleration or deceleration of the device or its optimization. But on the security side, it provides protection against 2 major vulnerabilities that emerged at the beginning of this year. In other words, even though 9 years have passed, Apple still continues to protect its products such as the iPhone 5S.

Beta installation on iOS and iPadOS devices – Step by step!

You can wait for the public beta to be released, not the developer first. But if you want to access it earlier, you need to open a developer account. To do this, you must pay Apple $99 per year.

However, if you are already using a developer account, you can download the latest beta version from the Apple Developer Center by clicking here. Then, after the appropriate profile has been downloaded to your device, you can complete the installation process from the Software Update section in System Preferences.

You can also configure your iOS device by going to the betaprofiles page by clicking here instead. Then you can follow the instructions that appear on the screen by going to Settings>Profile options. These are as follows:

  • Go to the betaprofiles site, the link of which we shared above.
  • Download the iOS 16 beta profile via the “iOS 16 Download” option.
  • Go to Settings on your iPhone.
  • Click on Profiles.
  • Tap on Upload Profile.
  • After the downloaded file is installed, click on restart device.
  • After your device boots up, re-enter Settings.
  • Click General, then Software Update.
  • Finally, click the Download option that appears here.
  • Note: In case of possible data loss, it is recommended to download the relevant download to your second device or to install it after backing up the data on your device.
