Google’s inability to keep a straight line in the communication applications industry has led to a name or application change every few years. Hangouts, a text and image-based chat application that became independent by leaving the Google+ social network, could not escape the end that awaited it.
Google Hangouts users will continue on their way with Google Chat from now on. It is stated that mobile applications will begin to transition in July. By November 2022, Hangouts will be completely deprecated. The web application, on the other hand, can be used up to a month ago. User data will be transferred to the new platform.
On the other hand, Google Duo is also merging with Google Meet. Thus, with the new strategy, there will be two communication applications called Google Chat for the end user and Google Meet for the institutions. Thus, the confusion of long years will be simplified a little more.
