Tech giant Google has filed a trademark application for “Non-Fungible Planet” even though it doesn’t have much of a connection to the crypto industry.
According to the filing, the application will be an educational campaign aimed at “providing information in the fields of environmental protection, conservation, energy efficiency, climate change, reducing carbon footprints, environmental issues and sustainability efforts”.
In the technical part, the project plans to reach entertainment services, that is, people who do not view content such as watching videos due to internet problems.
The project’s emphasis on the “non-fungible planet” probably refers to the proof-of-work Ethereum blockchain, whose environmental impact is the subject of intense debate.
In January, the CEO of Google-owned video platform YouTube said that his company is pursuing NFTs as a new way to monetize content creation.
