Founded in 1998, Google turned a quarter century on September 27 and added special birthday animations to some of its products, including search and translation. Search for “happy birthday” and see what happens.
For its 25th anniversary, Google has temporarily replaced the regular Google logo with a special Google Doodle to honor different holidays, events or important people. The 25th birthday logo shows all of Google’s designs, from the first logo to the newest. More than 5,000 unique doodles have been created since Google was founded in 1998.
Brief overview of Google history
Today, Google is much more than just a search engine. Google has become an integral part of the daily life of billions of people around the world with products such as YouTube, Android, Gmail and Maps.
Google’s influence in the technology world spread in 2000 when Yahoo became the default search engine. With the launch of AdWords in October 2000, Google laid the foundation for its advertising dominance on the Internet.
The next major breakthrough occurred in 2004; Gmail, which is now the default e-mail application of many people, has entered our lives.
Google’s innovations didn’t end with search and email. It entered the mobile industry in 2005 by purchasing Android and launching Google Talk. It entered the online video field by purchasing YouTube in 2006. In 2008, the first Android phone was released and the Chrome web browser entered our lives.
Following the acquisition of Google Glass, maps and Waze, Google’s parent company Alphabet was established and Sundar Pichai has been the CEO of Google since 2015.
