Google announced some new features for Android smartphones and tablets in a blog post it published a while ago. The company also announced new features for Wear OS-based smartwatches. These features aim to increase the entertainment, productivity and security capabilities of mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and smart watches.

new reading skills

With its Reading Practice feature, Google focuses on improving vocabulary and reading comprehension skills. Designed specifically for kids, this new feature is available in kids’ eBooks on Google Play Books. When you see the ‘Practice’ badge on a book, you can get real-time feedback, practice on misspelled words and improve your reading skills. This feature is available on both Android phones and tablets.

New widgets

Google Finance, Google News, and Google TV are getting new widgets on phones and tablets. Personalized movie and TV show recommendations with Google TV, selected stocks tracking with Google Finance, and daily headlines from Google News. For Wear OS smartwatches, Google has also introduced a new shortcut for Spotify that gives you instant access to your favorite music and podcasts.

New shortcuts for Wear OS

Wear OS users in the US can now pay for their trips via Google Wallet and use their SmarTrip and Clipper cards. In addition to Spotify, Google Keep will also be getting a new Tile and watch face shortcut.

Online security via Google One

Google One members will receive alerts if their Gmail email account has been exposed on the Dark Web. Google will also offer a series of steps to protect your email and related information. This feature will let you know if your personal information like your social security number has been leaked on the dark web. The feature, which is only available in the US for now, will be available in 20 more countries in the coming months.
