Google announced that it has added a new feature for Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones so you can record and transcribe your own voice in three more languages. The application, which was able to transcribe (transcription) voices recorded in English only until now, can now be used for translation in German, French and Japanese languages. The best part is that this new feature can also be used offline. This feature, which is included in the audio recording application of Pixel series smartphones, is a very useful way to get translations and written recordings of bilateral conversations.

Google announced the new feature it published with a video on Twitter:

Say ‘bonjour, hallo, konnichiwa’ to the recorder. Using Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, you can now transcribe your voice in three new languages:

French

German

Japanese

And you don’t even need an internet connection!

The offline translation feature in three new languages that Google added to its voice recording application is currently only available on Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro devices on Pixel series smartphones. On other phones in the series, this feature is still limited to English transcriptions. While developing this application, Google took advantage of the machine-learning-based Tensor chip.

In addition to audio transcription, users will also be able to re-view previously recorded documents. Three new languages added to the voice recording application on Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are also included in the ‘voice assistants’. Unlike other devices in the Pixel series, the voice recognition features in Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro can transcribe almost simultaneously. While Google explains that it will continue to work in this field in the future, it also reveals how fast Tensor processor technology will travel.
