Google may be trying to develop its own Bluetooth tracking detection software for Android smartphones. Bluetooth trackers like the Tile Mate and Apple AirTag have become increasingly popular over the past few years. These devices can help users find lost objects using Bluetooth connections and various applications.
However, with all the advantages of these tools, some risks also arise. Tile and Apple have taken various security measures to mitigate the risk posed by their devices, but there are also some issues with the current system.
The main issue seems to be that the free Tile and Apple Tracer Detect apps for Android phone users do not offer automatic detection, and users have to manually initiate searches in these apps.
According to a new 9To5Google news, Google wants to solve this problem with its own software. Lines of code referring to tag detection for devices called Tile tag and ATAg (possibly AirTag) were found in a Google APK that was recently uploaded to the Play Store, the site says.
The code is currently still at the baseline levels, but indicates that Google is working on it. It is unclear whether detection can be set to run automatically, but we can guess that this is the goal, as it is an expected and desired feature.
It’s also unknown when it will be available, but it could be very soon. Android 13 release is approaching and may be presented with the new version. Of course, as is always the case with such leaks, it may also be the case that this feature will never be offered.
