Coinbase hit with 2 new lawsuits amid SEC investigation
In a hot thread about cryptocurrency exchanges, Coinbase is now facing increasing scrutiny from regulators. The company becomes the target of multiple lawsuits. The San Francisco-based cryptocurrency exchange, which is currently being investigated by the SEC, is now facing two additional legal requests from two law firms.
On Thursday, New York-based law firm Bragar Eagel & Squire announced that it will be suing Coinbase over deceptive allegations about its business practices. Pomerantz LLP also filed suit against the exchange, claiming that it had the right to indemnify the defendant for damages incurred as a result of its violation of federal securities laws. This lawsuit was filed to indemnify the plaintiffs.
In both complaints, the plaintiffs allege that Coinbase made false and deceptive statements regarding the company’s business, operations, and compliance efforts, specifically between April 14, 2021 and July 26, 2022.
As you follow on Kriptokoin.com, Coinbase has been involved in many lawsuits and disputes in the past. Meanwhile, two new lawsuits have come as Coinbase is investigated by the SEC for allegedly trading unregistered securities. Ishan Wahi, Coinbase’s former global product manager, is accused of insider trading in a separate lawsuit. However, earlier this month, Wahi denied two wire fraud conspiracy charges in a Manhattan federal courtroom.
